i have never come across a tv that is so hard to tune in! i have a sky arial that come from the main box to this tv, yet i cant seem to tune it in at all. all the instructions keep telling you to do is go to 1st time set up! why is it so hard?

Hi, i purchased the digitrex cfd1571 on 15th Dec 09 as a xmas gift for my 9year old daughter(from father xmas). after watching 1 dvd the sound started to go off for about 3 seconds. i know this because i sat and watched a full movie with her and noticed this, it happened about 8 times throughout the film (108 mins).there is nothing wrong with the dvd as we watch it on other players in our home. It also does it with all other dvds we have played on it.
I returned it to Currys where they exchanged it for me. very good. when i asked about a refund they told my my 14days are up this being Dec 30th. no prob i said and returned home with second tv, set up for my daughter, who was most upset about Father Christmas leaving faulty items.
well yesterday Jan 1st 2010 guess what, yes it started playing up again same problem the sound.Now i know i can return and get an exchange, but i also know i cant get a refund. Now my daughter is most upset with father xmas. What if the next one does the same, where do i stand for a refund, yours Chris.

just bought the tv and tuned it in but cannot find the sky chanel. The tv is in the kitchen so I have a tvlink thing and eye - please help as it is driving me mad that I cannot get sky!! Thank you

Did Sky work over the TV link before or is this the first time you have tried to do that? We just need to narrow down whether it’s the TV or the tvlink that’s the problem.

Maybe try and get it working connected directly to the Sky box first and then introduct the link after you know that is working.

Hi Richard - thank you for the prompt reply! No its not the first time - I bought the Digitrex from Currys to replace an old tv. So took new one out of box, put in aerial/tv link and switched on, pressed install and search buttons etc - have all the pther channels but no sky! Di

Have you tried manually tuning into the Sky frequency? Normally the tuners have both an auto search and a manual tuning option. It may be that it has found a channel close by instead of Sky.

Try turning the Sky box on and then using the manual tune option to see if you can find it.

I wonder if you could help me. I have just bought this telly for my son and fitted it to his bedroom wall. If we are not perfectly in front of the telly then the screen goes negative, and then black depending on the angle. I know i should not get a perfect picture if viewing from the side, however this is just a slight move off centre. I have another flat screen in mine and the wifes bedroom and we do not have this sort of problem.

Hi just bought a digitrex CFD1571 from a currys store in ipswich that is closing down …put a dvd in and the sound keeps cutting out ..tried several others and the same thing..so i phoned shop and they said i have to take it to another store outside ipswich ..and ..wait for it..there is no guarantee that i will get my money back!!..i bought it on 9th of january 2010…yesterday!..after reading the comments from chris on 2/1/2010 i thought this news should be in the public domain…many thanks Tony

You should be able to see the screen from different angles. What is it like if you take it down and try it in different positions. Is it still the same?

I guess you could also look at a demo model in a store just to confirm that they are not all like that.

It sounds to me like a fault and that you may have to exchange it.

I’m afraid you are about the 4th person who has complained of this sound problem when playing DVDs on a Digitrex.

I think there must be a faulty batch and so I would take it back and exchange it for another one.

I purchased the above for my daughter and am not able to tune in any channels. We purchased a “show” version that worked fine in the shop but when trying to connect via a normal telly aerial found it doesnt pick up any channels and also via a scart lead ( Sky connection) it doesnt work either. Do i need to take it back to the shop or could you please advise. I dont really want to have to pay for an aerial tech to come out and check the aerial !!

Hi Angela

If you know your aerial connection is good and the scart doesn’t work either it does sound like a problem with the tuner in the TV.

I would take it back to the shop in the first instance.

hi I bought a digitrex cfd1571 for my wifes xmas and we cant get it tuned in. went to cuurys and theman sold me a digital amplified arieal(outside) to which i still cant get any signal with it . i hhave tried other tv on same ariel and the picture is perfect please can you help

I would get a refund on the aerial amplifier as it sounds like you didn’t need that.

Try doing the initial (first time) install over again and make sure you have saved all of your channels - and if this doesn’t work then I would return the TV to Currys as it sounds like it could be a fault with it’s tuner.

How can I get this new TV-DVD to play my old video tapes, it doesn’t seem to recognise any video signal…..

Either through the video socket or the SCART. Try 1st time installation again with your video recorder connected and playing something - and make sure you save your settings if it finds the VCR.

If not then there may be a problem with the tuner on your TV as a few other people have been experiencing this. In this case I would take it back to the retailer.

Well so far the reviews point to this not being a good buy - probably its cheap for a reason! So I have decided to carry on looking.

I am thinking of buying this tv for my boat, does anybody know if it could be connected to 12v supply instead of 220v?

i bought this digitex for my daughter and we cant get the Playstation 2 to work on it, tried it with the scart and without just plugging in the relevant colours etc’ yellow red white plugs - no sound no pictures no nothing. any advice would be thankfully recieved.

I just purchased adigitrex cfd 1571, everything is fine except the one thing. After scanning on digital ariel, the bbc chammel numbers are ok at 001,002, but itv, 4 and five are allover the place. itv is number 800 so how do I change it to 003 and others to suit. Thanks

This TV is a dissapointment, first one had three dead/active pixels and sound drop out problem, exchanged it in store for a new one. Replacement has no pixel problems but sound still drops out. Seems to do it when watching DVDs mostly but also using external DVD player and Game Console. When the sound drops below a certain level the speaker seems to switch off (during a pause in dialouge for example), then will come back on when a loud sound reactivates the speaker, but usually with a slight delay. Frustrating when watching a movie during a particularly quiet scene or slow dialouge.

Hi just baught a DIGITREX CFD1571 15.6″ HD Ready LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player for use in my motorhome ( RV ) powered with an inverter. On forst go it does not work , the power light flashing. What is the power consumption of the unit? I am using an 80watt inverter should this be enough?

I had one of these bought for xmas with the same dvd sound issue everyone keeps talking about. I took it back and they exchanged it with one from PC world (even thought they had none in stock and sent me to a store that was closed) I was hoping that it would be from a different batch so the sound would be ok. Unfortunately it isnt. Is there anything that can be done about this? With the people that got an exchange, were theirs ok? I like this tv, but Id like it to work!! Thanks

i Have got a Digitrex Model CFD1571 LCD TV, And a Freeview Areia and i cant seem to set it up i have tryied everything and i cant evan get the simple channel bbc one itv channel 4 !!!! HELP !!!!!!

If you read some of the other comments about the 2 Digitrex TVs we have reviewed - other people have had this problem. Try doing ‘first time’ installation again as that worked for one reader.

Are you in a good coverage area for Freeview and have you had Freeview on any other TVs before? You can check the areas where coverage is available on the Freeview website.

If you have good Freeview signal and other TVs work in your home then you can’t rule out it being a fault with the Digitrex. Try taking it back to the retailer and they can see if it works in the shop.

I also purchased this telly and had the same problems with the sound dropping when playing dvds. It seems that if the sound is quiet on the dvd then the sound drops out completely. I returned it to DIXONS. They agreed to replace it went and got a replacement and then informed me that they were not going to replace it but send it away for 28 days to repair it. What appalling customer service. WARNING DO NOT BUY FROM DIXONS.

Our Digitrex 15″ combo doesn’t have any of the above problems ; the TV colour is fine, but DVDs play in green !
TV is linked to a freesat box and all connections OK. Any suggestions ?

I have recently purchased a CFD 1571d and I am surprised to find that the only way to switch off without leaving it on standby is to remove the mains plug from wall socket is this correct.

I have the Digitrex 2271 my problem was i bought it from PC world with no remote control, but i found one aT LAST. now there another proble i am unable to get any sound from the pc to the tv. I have alredy been to PC world twice to fix the problem. It only worked with the windows media, so i tried another media player, but i never got any sound at all. So i don’t no what their tech guy has done, but i think they hav’nt fixed my problem.

Having bought a Digitrex CFD1571 recently. I had no problem setting it up and there are none of the problems mentioned in other posts. However, I am using a TopUP TV box which has it’s own remote which will NOT allow me to alter volume settings etc., I was provided with a list of 4 digit codes for several hundred different brands of TV’s but no mention of “Digitrex” . Nor can I find this brand on a couple of other lists of such codes.

It is a nuisance having to use two different RCU’s and would really appreciate it if someone could provide me with the required four digit code.

@ Ian i had the same problem trying to a code for My Digitrex 2271 i bought 3 different URC’s but i found 1 @ http://www.avukltd.com. I also found out that trying to find their website was near impossible!!! now all i need is a user’s manul and i’d be very happy. If you had a ONEforALL they could get you a code no bother!

I bought a Digitrex CFD1571 from Currys Digital in Cheltenham in November 2009. I had exactly the same sound problem - sound kept on cutting out when playing a DVD. I returned it to the shop who first of all tried to tell me that I had no redress because I hadn’t taken out an extended warranty. I pointed out that it was still well within my normal 12 month warranty period and reluctantly they took it back, wouldn’t give me either a refund or a replacement but said it had to go away for repair and that could take up to 28 days. This is not true because I have checked with Trading Standards who said that as the goods were defective I was entitled to a choice of repair, replacement or my money back under the Sale of Goods Act 1979. The compnay then ‘lost’ the TV in their workshops and told me that they had no limit of time to find it again. After 6 weeks, numerous telephone calls and visits to the shop and finally a legal letter they have just notified me that it is back and ready for collection. I asked for my money back several tyimes but they just refused. This is illegal but they took absolutely no notice nor did they reply to my letters or emails. I would not willingly deal with again but unfortunately they seem to have something of a monopoly.

Anyone got a Sky+ code for the Digitrex CFD 1571 to work?

I have one of these tv and since you can record onto ext hard drive have bought one to do just that.
have recorded a 3 hour tv programme and works fine,so I thought I would be able to store some movies on the hard drive and then watch them but although they are on the hard drive they dont show up on tv any ideas why.
also cannot find any contact details for digitrex or website

Re Digitrex CFD1571 - is not receiving any BBC channels - other Freeview sets in the house, using the same arial, receive all channels. Any thoughts please?

Multi region hack for Digitrex 1571 is : with no disc in press 9735 to get to setup screen then select option above Region 1 for multi region then select ok then exit.

I bought a digitrex CFD1571 and have had nothing but problems with it, the first tv I had worked ok but the controller did not work at all, I got an exchange tv this worked ok until I started using my freesat box when I pressed the 2 button or the ok button on the freesat controller it switched the tv off, I have checked three different freeview boxes and they all turn this tv off when using 2/ok buttons, I have checked four other tvs and this does not happen so it somthing to do with this tv using the same frequency as the the freesat boxes, what a let down because the tv looks nice and the picture quality is very good.

Hi I have just bought a digitrex CFD1571 and although I can get it to tune into both analogue and freeview stations as soon as I switch off the tv it loses them all and comes up with a message No Services selsect the service setup menu to add new services. Does anyone know how I get it to save the channels ?

Can anyone tell me what the actual measurements of this TV are? I’m hoping to place it on a bedroom shelf, but it’s got a limit on the height. Anyone got a measuring tape!?

Does this play any region dvds?

Have been very happy with my DIGITREX CFD1571B,purchased in Dec 09. The TV works just fine(have not tried the DVD) both in the house and in our caravan using an inverter on the 12volt system.Suddenly ,after 8 months I get the NO SERVICES message and cannot find how to Find Services.Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I have a digitrex with Freeview and I have inadvertently deleted the BBC one and Two channels somehow. Can anybody tell me how to re-tune the Freeview channels. Is it re-set on the menu?

I have purchased a digitrex tv today. I cannot get the sound to work (the picture is fine) and the SKY control does not work with the TV at all. I rang up SKY who said the make has not been registered with them therefore there isn’t a code at the present time to connect the sky remote to the new tv. Has anyone got a code for the remote or got any ideas how to get it? Having read these reviews and with my experiences today I am seriously considering taking the tv back to the shop!!!! I would be grateful for any responses to this messgae.

I have just moved into a house that has a digitrex built onto the wall. everything works fine, including the dvd player. Only problem is there is no remote control. I have today paid £18 for a one for all but there doesn’t seem to be a code in the instructions for digitrex and the search function doesn’t seem to pick it up either. Anyone got the answer?
